In New Zealand, when it comes to adventure travel, most people think of Queenstown, snow and bungee jumping. We also have a number of world class surf destinations though, in both the north and south islands.

On the North Island, we start with a number of great surf breaks which are conveniently close to Auckland. Piha is a great example of such a beach.

From there, you have breaks on the east and west side of our Island. Coromandel on the east and Raglan on the west are two such examples.

Heading further south, we have breaks near all the great tourist spots. Gisborne, Napier, Wellington. The list goes on.

On the South Island, Dunedin and Christchurch are the spots to go on the east. Don't forget Westport though on the north-western side of the south island. Another must on your NZ surf safari.

There are plenty of options for surfing in NZ. All you need to do is pick up your surfboard from one of our independent operators (located on the right-hand side of this page) and hit the waves. Go on - get on out there
